In vitro variation in pathogenicity of Fusarium species causing head blight in relation to their isolation from barley head

چکیده
Abstract Till now, no published study is available on the variation in pathogenicity of Fusarium head blight (FHB) pathogens relation to their isolation origin barley head. To end this, two cultivars contrasting quantitative resistance were artificially infected by four FHB species under field conditions over consecutive growing seasons. Then, tests conducted vitro single-spore cultures originated from both kernels and glumes heads. Different was detected among glumes, indicating that same isolate differs leaves/seedlings. Isolates culmorum verticillioides had shorter latent periods higher area disease progress curves compared isolates reverse observed for equiseti isolate. In case solani , or equally pathogenic. Primarily findings this first in-depth have implications breeding programs relied principally actual quantification present a given environment. The sampling fungi should take into account presence interest glumes.

Head blight of wheat (FHB, scab) caused by Fusarium spp. is a severe fungal disease problem worldwide. Apart from yield and grain quality losses, the contamination of the harvest with toxic fungal metabolites, known as mycotoxins, is of serious impact. In spite of the fact that several sources for resistance against FHB have been found and utilized in hexaploid wheat, virtually no resistant tet...

Thirty-seven isolates of Fusarium graminearum species complexobtained from wheat heads with Fusarium head blight symptoms were selected and used for phylogenetic studies. They were collected from different localities of Moghan plain (Ardebil province, Iran). Partial sequences of translation elongation factor 1-alpha (TEF), putative reductase (RED) and UTP-ammonia ligase (URA) genes were amplifi...

In order to determine the causal agents of Fusarium head blight, during 2015–16, wheat heads with disease symptom were collected from 10 and six main wheat production areas of Golestan and Mazandaran provinces (N Iran), respectively. A total of 431 Fusarium isolates were obtained belonging to nine Fusarium species based on their morphological characteristics. Fusarium graminearum species comple...
